The recent abortions bans and attacks on reproductive freedom, the ongoing attacks on African Americans, the concentration camps filled with immigrants, the ongoing attacks on LGBTQIA+ rights, the dire need for affordable housing, and the need to do something to help the increasing numbers of mentally ill in our community are the issues that have called Rachel to action.

I believe as we look to the future, we need to create an environment for success by no longer allowing laws to be passed that marginalize us.  We must fight to protect all of our citizens and immigrants.

Reproductive Justice

I believe, given the current administration’s attacks on women's rights at both the local and federal level, it is urgent that we fight for Reproductive Justice now.

I believe Reproductive Justice as the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, have children, not have children, and parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities.  Reproductive Justice is especially essential for all individuals of marginalized genders including trans people.

I believe that all women deserve equal access to workplace safety, equal pay, paid parental leave, full access to healthcare, and more. I believe equal pay for all genders.

Support LGBTQIA+

I believe, given the current administration’s attacks on LGBTQIA+ rights and discrimination at both the local and federal level, in the urgency of acting to safeguard the livelihoods of LGBTQIA+ people.

This discrimination impacts gay and trans people from an early age among LGBTQIA+ youth, rates of homelessness, incarceration, substance abuse and suicide are all disproportionately high. Clearly, we must do more to end intolerance and bigotry throughout our nation.

Medicare for All

I know first hand how universal health care will help the mentally ill, had I been able to get my husband the help he needed sooner our lives may have turned out very differently.  I believe that expanding medicare to all is the ethical thing to do.

Almost every other developed nation in the world has universal healthcare. It’s time the United States catches up to the rest of the world in ensuring all people have real healthcare coverage. Improved and expanded Medicare for All includes full vision, dental, and mental healthcare.
